Beware: this post shows how I am vain and wrapped up in immaterial things...I am aware. Yet, I don't care. I am so sad I thought I would share.
I broke a prong on my wedding ring. It took me FOREVER to get it to the jeweler. (my fault I know) But I have been without my wedding ring since like SUMMER.
I was totally anxious to get it back and wear it again. You know, I am sort of attached to that ring. I have had it for almost 20 years and all. (Here is where I make a GRAVE mistake) I let the jeweler talk me into lowering my diamond! (What on earth was I thinking? I had total reservations too!) He claimed it would be so much better of a fix and blah blah blah.
Here's what went through my mind when they showed it to me...I HATE IT! I could not even conceal these feelings. I flat out told them, UMM I don't like this. I said I would wear it to see if I could get "used" to it, but I think it looks bad. (If I was the crying type, I would have be bawling all day today...instead I am just sick...)
I am so sad. Every time I look at my hand my stomach turns. It is stubby, and ridiculous looking. I absolutely detest this thing. My pretty ring is GONE! I am left with this incredibly yucky thing on my hand.
Now, if I want to get "my ring" back, it has to have "Major Surgery". UGGG!

I am so sorry! That is so sad. Wedding rings are special and can not easily be replaced.
Oh no!
I can totally relate to this. I got a bigger diamond a year after we got married and I was talked into having it set low since the diamond was a better cut - thus not very deep and it would not "snag" on things. I also hated it. The diamond did not stand out and it totally changed the look of the ring. I immediatly had it re-set and they set it in platinum prongs (even though my ring is gold) so they would hold the diamond better/stonger. I now love it. The bottom of my diamond does not sit at the band - it is suspended up higher - but it looks great. OK - that was a long comment, but I would cry too. I hope you get it worked out so you love it again. I would send it back to "the shop".
I agree, back to "the shop" it goes...shoot....
My vote is to have Rich buy you a brand new one that is twice the size! That should make you feel better! After that, he can get you a Red VW Beetle too! :) Good luck with the ring.
You know me, I can't really relate, but I'm so sad that you're sad. I'm sure the jeweler can make it right.
Take it down there and demand they fix it - and for free. Do you need me to call them?
I agree with Carrie! They should fix it and for free. I am so so sorry!!
