To Be a Pioneer

Pioneer Trek 2009

Hannah took off Thursday morning for the Pioneer Handcart Trek. I gotta say it was a bit weird to pull into the stake center and see everyone milling around in pioneer garb.

Hannah with her 5 gallon bucket, the only luggage allowed. You'd be surprised how small a 5 gallon bucket really is. She was a bit disappointed at what did not fit.

Hannah in her new bonnet

Hannah with other "kids" in her trek family!

Do you think she has been singing, "We are marching, ever marching.....We are pioneers; we're marching pioneers!"? (Children's songbook page 218)

It looks like the extras from Big Love milling around.

I hope she has a blast! I wish we did that here.

Hannah looks absolutely darling as a pioneer! I hope see enjoys her trek. I don't think that I would have been a very good pioneer, I am really a camper and now we even have tents.

They all look so cute in their pioneer get up! John & I went on the trek as newly weds, 12 years ago. Only of few of the kids in our ward dressed up,while all of the adults did. I think it's great that they are all dressed up! It was an awesome experience/activity.
