We love you Grandpa!

Today is a very sad day for our family. Grandpa Kay lost his battle with cancer. We love you! We'll miss you!
My first distinct memory of my father in law was when Richard and I had only been dating a couple of months. Richard was playing flag football and broke his collar bone into three pieces. As I sat in the emergency room of the student center together with his parents I witnessed this:

A young college student, tears streaming down her cheeks, begged the receptionist for some medicine to get her sick baby through the night. (It was late) The receptionist coldly informed her to go to the hospital pharmacy, for it was 24 hrs.

This young mother begged again, "I do not have enough money. I can not afford that pharmacy. Can you please give me a sample just to make it through the night. Please?"

Receptionist, "I said you have to go to the hospital"

Then, Kay stood up, opened his wallet pulled out $40, handed it to the young mom and said, "go get your baby some medicine" Then he sat down and quickly resumed reading.

The young mother tried to say no, but left saying THANK YOU SIR!

That was my Father in law. A great man. A great example to us. We love you and will miss you greatly!
