If your kids are anything like mine you might find yourself re-folding their shirt drawer several times a week. I used to stack my kids shirts in their drawers, then in the morning they would unfold several shirts in their quest to get dressed.
Here's the kicker. Most of the time they left then unfolded shirts on the floor in front of their dresser. If I was lucky they would heap the clothes back into the drawer in one big crumpled pile. No hope of the drawer closing. Sweet eh? (I wish I had taken a picture of what this looked like before I made the change...but unfortunately I did not.)

Then I had complete and total inspiration. Don't mock me. This idea really rocks. I folded their shirts in the traditional box fold (you know, they way every store in America folds shirts), then folded it in half again. I then set these shirts, now folded into a compact little rectangle on their sides.
My hope was that if they could see ALL their options, the only shirt that would leave the drawer would be the one they were looking for. I gave this new theory a two week test run. As you can see, after two weeks, it still looks great. Two weeks and counting and only had to refold ONE shirt! YAHOO! I am LOVING how clean their drawers look! Now maybe you are all much smarter than me, and already thought of this. But if you are struggling like I WAS try it!
What am I going to to with all this new found time???

I love this idea Laurie! We too are in a state of never ending clothes-folding! Though I'm not always on top of the re-folding... :)
That is a great idea...I am going to put it to test in our house.
Great idea - but the difference between you and me is I let the clothes be a mess and my kids look wrinkled and if they sent one of those clean shirts down to the laundry I went ballistic on them. You are much nicer - and cleaner I might add.
Extra time - sonic, duh.
the best ideas are the ones when you think - why didn't I think of that???? Such a simple solution. I'm gonna use it!!!!!
We will have to give that a try!
you are brillant. I am so giving this a try. I was just in my older boys room this morning & dying at the sight of more clean clothes on the floor {ggrrrr} below their dresser. thanks for the tip! I am trying it today!
