Why oh "Y"

I have this uncanny knack of getting myself into all sorts of unpleasant situations. I got myself into one this week. Me with my big ole Linford mouth promised my kids that we would hike the Y while we were in Utah. (For those of you who might not know there is a Huge Y on the side of the mountain that you can hike to) Might I remind you it is AUGUST???? My brain was obviously on a mini vacation when my mouth took over. I promised, so I did take them. Good mommy that I am.

The altitude really killed Hannah and I. We were huffing and puffing for air. Jacob and Jonah just soared to the top. Jonah would have run the whole way, if I would have let him! He tried to run the whole way down while his "old lady mom" was hobbling down trying to spare the aging knees crying "slow down...wait for me!"

Isn't that picture terrible? I look Like I am about 100lbs over weight. BAD angle. But I had to post it...that is my only proof that I did it! In August! In 100 degree weather!

The kids and I had a lot of fun...even if it was hot. The view is absolutely beautiful from up on the Y. This is what the BYU campus looks like when you are at switchback #2. The view is even better from the top.

Wow! I am SO impressed! What a good mom you are to follow through with your promise... I made that hike once as a dumb freshman. We went with a group early in the morning to see the sun rise. But we didn't think that the sun rises from behind the mountain. Brilliant. It may have been 100 degress, but at least you didn't wake up at 3am to make the trip!
